Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan for installation of telecommunications network equipment
- Prepare for given work according to relevant work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements
- Obtain access to site and assess the options for network installation
- Identify existing and potential site hazards
- Verify network equipment installation according to appropriate plans obtained from authorised personnel
- Investigate how equipment is to be connected to existing network systems
- Develop and finalise installation plans to ensure minimal workplace disruption according to relevant legislation, regulations, codes and standards
- Obtain tools and test equipment required for safe work practice
- Notify affected parties of possible network outage
- Install network hardware and cabling
- Install network equipment according to plan and manufacturer instructions, using safe industry practices
- Install equipment or insert equipment cards and modules
- Install all cables according to specifications
- Confirm service interruption is within limits agreed with customer
- Document all installation drawings for customer
- Install equipment accessories
- Install alarms according to instruction manuals and specifications
- Install operations administration and maintenance system according to specification
- Install communication facilities for operational staff according to specification, taking into account any special needs of site and operational staff
- Install operator communication facilities according to needs and specifications
- Configure and test system
- Clean-up worksite and complete documentation
- Remove and dispose of installation waste and debris from worksite according to environmental requirements
- Restore changes made to work area during installation according to customer satisfaction
- Complete all installation documents and present to customer
- Declare asset ready for commissioning and integration
- Notify customer and obtain sign-off
